Then he wanted something a little more complex - the same basic tone with increased headroom and dynamics, so that the sound kills on 10 and cleans up when the volume is rolled down. With a little less power than the original Evolution, EVO2 balances perfectly with the Evolution neck model and performs equally well with high gain and vintage amps.

To tame the inherent harshness of ceramic magnets Gibson altered the values of its pots from the tradtional 500k Audio taper to 300k audio taper. When Superhumbuckers proved unpopular traditional humbuckers were reintroduced. The Heritage reissues of 1980 heralded the return of the traditional humbucker with a nod to the classic PAF design of the 1950s. Unfortunately, Gibson continued with the 300k pots for some unknown reason (large stocks to get rid of?). Guitars of that era often have a very dark sound with a tendency towards flabbiness on the neck pickup in partiular. Dramatically alter the sound of your guitar and let its pickups breathe by upgrading the pots to 500k using our kit.made up from CTS pots as used by Gibson in the 50s. Includes a pair of 0.022 mf capacitors for maximum authenticity.

The first stop bar tailpieces were made from cast aluminium and anyone who has ever handled one will know that they are considerably lighter than the later units made from cast Mazak (a Zinc alloy) - hence 'Featherweight'.

This is a modern cast aluminium reproduction of Gibson's classic stop bar tail piece and includes the sharp ridge typical of the original units. 3 1/4" stud spacing as per Gibson, with USA thread studs and bushings.

For 'Junior' and 'Special' type instruments versions with adjustment screws are available.
